On June 14, 2017, CIETAC and the Arbitration Institute of Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (¡°SCC¡±) successfully co-hosted the Sino-Sweden International Commercial Arbitration Seminar and the premiere of The Quiet Triumph in Beijing.
Director of CIETAC International Case Division Dr. Chen Jian and Secretary General of SCC Annette Magnusson addressed on behalf of the two arbitration institutions. Both speakers appreciated the decades-long close cooperation between CIETAC and SCC, recognized the positive role of international commercial arbitration in dispute resolution and shared their views on the prospect of international commercial arbitration.
This Seminar focused on two topics, i.e. multi-party arbitration and multi-contract arbitration, and the emergency arbitrator system. In the first session, which was chaired by Jessica Fei of Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, Yin Tianshu of CIETAC and Jakob Ragnwaldh of Mannheimer Swartling commented on a number of major issues relating to multi-party and multi-contract arbitration, the differences and similarities of CIETAC and SCC¡¯s arbitration rules regarding such topics as well as various situations encountered in real-life cases. Annette Magnusson chaired the discussion panel on Emergency Arbitrator system, in which Chen Jian of CIETAC and Jing Liu of Huizhong Law Firm shared their views on the latest developments of emergency arbitrator and real-life cases from legal practice. Over fifty legal professionals from various businesses, law schools and arbitration institutions participated in this seminar. The depth and richness of the discussion made this seminar a success.
The seminar also premiered The Quiet Triumph in Beijing, which is part of the film¡¯s world tour after its premiere in Stockholm in January 2017. The premieres of film in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong are co-hosted by CIETAC and SCC.
